19,000 Volts

According to Wikipedia, Chevrolet has sold a little over 15,000 Volts in the US since they started producing them in 2010. The world wide sales numbers are a little hazier, but if I had to guess, the total number of these plug-in hybrid electric vehicles in service today is probably around 19,000.

I saw my first one in the wild today, in white, while not necessarily attractive, it is certainly not ugly either, as it passed by me on I-20 in Columbia.

Somewhere just east of New Holland, the Purple Whale, windshield wipers slapping back and forth, passed the 19,000 mile mark.

Radio Paradise HD

My favorite internet radio station has it own channel on the Roku box. It is called Radio Paradise HD and it streams the same music as the radio stream, but with the addition of photos that compliment the title, artist or lyrics.

Tonight I decided to upload a few of my photos to see if they might use them. The submission form had room for eight files, so that is how many I uploaded for now. Maybe next time I do a few Enchanted Ceiling shots. One of the one tonight was the above image of Carhenge from our 2009 trip out west.

For the first time in about 3 weeks we rode the tandem to work. This is a great time of year for this because now that school is out for the summer traffic on the way to work is almost non-existent and not much more on the way home.

Fan Of A Mid Level Team

The Red Sox are on there way to losing to Baltimore again tonight and if they do they will have a .500 record of 28 wins and 28 losses. There are 30 teams in the Major Leagues and right now they have 14 teams with better records and 15 with worse records. They will be in last place and at least 4 games out of first place in their division. If they were in the American League Central they would be in 3rd place and the same 4 games out. If they were playing in the American West they would be in third place too, but 5 games out. The same pretty much holds true in either of the three National League divisions, 4 or 5 games out of first and right near the middle of the 5 or 6 teams therein.

But I keep listening because all it would take is a couple of good winning streaks and they could be right there at the top. But at a third of the way through the regular season, those streaks better start soon.

Poke Berry Field

We went for a walk in Hitchcock Woods this morning to take advantage of the slightly cooler temperatures. We did a little 2.9 mile loop* and we passed through a spot I’m not so sure we have been before, Poke Berry Field. If we have visited this spot before it was so long ago that I have forgotten it. The berries must be about to get ripe as someone has parked a purpose built Poke Berry Trailer here in the field in preparation for their harvesting.

*I say little, because when we got home my wife felt she hadn’t walked enough, so she went back out and did her 3 mile loop on the dirt roads of the horse district…

Settling In

I seem to have settled in at an every other pace. Well, that means tonight I should post something and I pretty much have zero to write about, so it’s junk time.

The FRS are playing pretty good baseball right now and have managed to get a couple games above .500. They are still in last place in their division, but everybody is all bunched up and they are only 2-1/2 games behind the leaders. This is all pending the outcome of tonight’s game and things are not looking too good.

I’m watching the game on MLB.tv using the Roku box. Every day so far they have had a Free Game of the Day and this is the first time the Sox have been on for free. I think it helped that there are only three big league games in total going tonight and the FRS game is the only one in the eastern time zone. As strange as this seems the worse part of watching the game on MLB.tv is the lack of commercials. The deafening silence for 2 – 3 minutes while staring at the logo is UN-nerving.

The CNC machine I sort of learned to program and then just recently sort of learned how to operate is in the building. Our maintenance is hooking up power to it and when they are done the fine folks of Ellison Technologies will come in and put it in complete working order. Then the fun really begins.

My taste buds are still slightly whack after 5 days of being off the antibiotics….
