Geez, I’m sure it is superstition not wash it or whatever, but that thing is gross. It probably started as a little pine tar transferring off a batting glove, but it is now officially out of hand. I think the players have been spitting tobacco juice on it, that is the only way it could have gotten so bad in just the 6 weeks you’ve been off the DL – Yeck!! By the way, those Shirley Temple curls poking out from under it aren’t helping either.
Damn Yankees. They won tonight’s game in the bottom of the 9th inning. Damn Yankees. we’ve still got 5 games against them (2 home & 3 at NY) before the season is over so we can get some revenge still. One good thing is we’ve got 4 games coming up against Tampa Bay this week and the Red Sox have positively owned the Devil Rays this year. (Damn I hope haven’t just jinxed them.)
Damn Yankees. After the Red Sox got 5 in the top of the eight to take a one run lead, the Yankees tied it in the bottom of the eight. Then they won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. Damn Yankees.
Damn Fox. Just because I live in South Carolina doesn’t mean I want to see the Braves play the Phillies. Jeez the Braves are up by a dozen games and the Phillies are like 18 games behind. The Yankees and the Red Sox are fighting it out for top spot in the AL East with only 3 games separating them, that is the game I should have seen.
My prediction of about a month ago came true today, pretty much right on schedule. Sox lost to LA and the Yanks beat San Diego to move a 1/2 game ahead in the American League East. I can now breath a sight of relief and stop reading the box scores. But I’ll still check the standings every few weeks just to see how far down they have fallen and if Baltimore passes them to get into second place.
They are playing the dreaded Yankees this weekend and it looks like the 4 game series will end up a draw. The Sox won the first two, the Yanks won last night and are now up 8-5 in the 6th tonight. I have had my heart broken by the boys who play at Fenway a lot and I have now become fatalistic that they are never going to win the World Series. Now it looks like they won’t even win the division again this year. I know you are saying that they are still up by 2 games over the Yankees, but I can feel it. This is just like last year, the Sox were on top until sometime in June then the Yankees went right on by and finished ahead. I think that NY does it o purpose, they give ’em a head start, just to make it look really bad when they over take them. Or maybe it is the Boston players themselves, they are thinking like me, they know they can’t win it deep down and around the middle of the season they look around and realize they are in front, then remember that they are losers and just collapse.
