The Donald

Good Luck Cleaning Up the Joint

Wednesday, January 20, 2021

This is today’s The New Yorker cartoon…I had another image, using my presidential action figures all photo-shopped up for today, but after January 6th it seems just a little in bad taste. But, if your taste run that way, feel free to click here to see it.

Joe Biden Action Figure

I’ve added the President-Elect to my small collection political “action figures” to go along with the one of our current Lame Duck Chief Executive and the one of the Democratic Senator from Vermont. I ordered Joe, like the other two, from FCTRY on the 3rd of December.

It shipped from the Great State of New Jersey on the 7th. Mr. Biden arrived on my door step today. If he actually was an action figure he would have come straight here and according to MapQuest he could have travelled just 2850 miles and been here 41 hours later on the evening of the tenth.

But instead he took a fairly convoluted route to get here passing through a dozen states (campaigning?), making 12 separate stops, over the same number of days. Following the FedEx tracking page and using MapQuest he traveled a little over 3550 miles which could of only taken 61 hours, but instead took 264!

I Has A President

Tuesday, July 28, 2020

Just like a couple weeks ago’s I Don’t Have A Cat post, while wandering the interwebs this evening, looking to find something to entertain me when I came across this photo somewhere, possibly CNN or maybe in an article about the Supreme President inviting himself to throw out a first pitch, and for whatever reason it too spoke to me.

It is sort of like the Mona Lisa as it mirrors the painting’s novel qualities, including the subject’s expression, which is frequently described as enigmatic, the monumentality of the composition, the subtle modelling of forms, and the atmospheric illusionism.

Enjoy!

Person, Woman, Man, Camera, TV

Here are some of my favorite excepts from CNN’s online article “The 32 most bizarre lines from Donald Trump’s latest interview with Sean Hannity.”

6. “Since — it’s funny. Since I did a — I made a speech at Mount Rushmore. And since that time, it’s been really something. There’s been — I mean, before that, really. You have all of these fake, these suppression polls, and just like 2016, when they put out these phony polls, the media.”

12. “And if you are not 100% on your game, if you are not 100% sharp-plus, you’ve got a problem.”

14. “So many different things, I could go — and you don’t have enough time. I could go all night with it.”

19. “There’s tremendous — you know, you don’t see that too much in the news, but you have countries that are going through relatively what we are doing plus-plus-plus. It is horrible.”

25. “We are going to be respected. And we are now by other countries. They’re respecting us more than they have in many, many decades. I will tell you that.”

28. “Yes, no, I have thrown out first pitches.”

Trumpifier

Tuesday, June 18, 2019

If you’re like me, you just can’t enough listening/reading/seeing our current President speak. Well, today is your lucky day because I have found just the right browser extension for you, the Trump Alternative Reality Extension. Below is a copy of a paragraph from a Slate article entitled Hell Is High Water on New Orleans and the Mississippi River:

Crawford, the pilot, told me that taking a big ship down the Mississippi at high water around Algiers Point is like driving a truck down a road of ice. Taking it up the river might take twice as long as it did this time last year, when the river was 8 feet lower. Right now, everyday river operations are tense. One deckhand likened the situation to a five-alarm fire. There are no barges resting on the riverbanks, because there’s not much levee left above the waterline. Anchors won’t hold in the river bottom. On Wednesday morning, a barge hit the shore in Algiers, knocking over a utility pole and causing a power outage for 5,000 people. Then again, at least things are still moving here: Further north, the Arkansas and Illinois rivers have been closed to commercial traffic entirely due to high water, choking off shipments of corn and soybeans.

Now what it looks like using the Trumifier:

We’re doing very well on trade, we’re doing very well – our companies are very strong. Don’t forget, we’re still up from when I came in, 38 percent or something. I’m not playing by the same rules as Obama. Obama had zero interest to worry about; we’re paying interest, a lot of interest. He wasn’t paying down – we’re talking about $50 billion lots of different times, paying down and knocking out liquidity. Well, Obama didn’t do that. And just so you understand, I’m playing a normalization economy, whereas he’s playing a free economy. Wacky Omarosa You know, normally I could do other things tonight. I like you. I love this state. I figured, hey, it’s a Monday. Who the hell wants to sit around doing nothing on Monday night? Right? We fell in love. We are securing our Borders, making great new Trade Deals, and bringing our Troops Back Home.

President Trump’s Aid to Puerto Rico

Thursday, October 5, 2017

Several month’s ago I gave up the dueling tweet thing with my Bernie and Trump figures. It got old because nothing ever changed, Senator Sanders kept tweeting things that made sense and BOTUS (Buffoon of the United States) kept tweeting nonsense. Both 6″ “action” figures went into a drawer under my desk. But after seeing the coverage of the president’s Monday visit to hurricane ravaged Puerto Rico, I just had to bring the doll out of exile.

sturgeon’s law

"Ninety Percent Of Everything Is Crap"
Derived from a quote by science fiction author Theodore Sturgeon, who once said, "Sure, 90% of science fiction is crud. That's because 90% of everything is crud." Oddly, when Sturgeon's Law is cited, the final word is almost invariably changed to 'crap'.
