Garnetman

Garnet Red MiataWarning, those of you with a low threshold for stupidity may want to skip this post.

While wiling away some time on the Miata Forum I came upon a post in the NC forum from a woman about getting the exact car she wanted. It is a new MX-5 in Galaxy Gray which is a fairly dark gray with blue undertones. When the folks in that section put their car color in their signatures this color is abbreviated GG. I don’t remember exactly what she had to say, but I really did like her forum name – Galaxy Girl (which could also be abbreviated GG.) I could readily imagine the costume a superhero called Galaxy Girl would have, all dark blue with small silver stars throughout and a big ringed planet on her chest. A chrome silver cape and boots with a dark blue strap mask that had star shaped cutouts to see through.

It was almost enough to make me want to buy a Galaxy Gray MX-5 in 1336 days just so I could change my forum name to Galaxy Guy. Wait, can’t I just change it now to something like Garnet Guy or maybe just Garnetman. Let’s see, dark maroon uniform with a faceted GG or G on the chest in shiny bright red. Red boots and cape with gold piping. For a mask, maybe something like Geordi from ST:NG.

I have commissioned a caricature for the last two Miatas, maybe I could get an artist to draw up Garnetman for me. A Google search led me to a few possibilities, including this one: The Art of Andy Smith.

The guy has done work for Marvel comics, so his work probably wouldn’t come cheap. I may go ahead and ask anyway. I kind of like this pose of Superman or this other one of Quasar from his Commissions page. Boy if I did get my very own superhero alter ego, you could bet that this web page would get a redesign…

Donna and I are actually thinking of resurrecting the whole, drive somewhere in South Carolina and take pictures of the Miata in front of Post Offices, idea again for a few weekend trips this spring. Check back in about 5 or 6 months because there might be a Volume 2 of this screensaver.

Experimental Club Web Site

In an effort to make the Master’s Miata Club’s web site a little more member driven I’m trying to convert it to use WordPress blogging software (like this fine internet destination.) This way anyone can add content, not just me. If someone has a neat idea for a drive and wouldn’t mind other Club member’s joining them, they can post it on the calendar. If they have any Miata news to share, log in and post it. Took a cool picture of their car, load it on the site. The secretary can upload the meeting minutes without sending them to me first.

The Emperor’s New Mascot

And now, young Skywalker... you will die.For Christmas, when I picked out my new Star Wars toys, I picked some from the original 1977 movie. For something different, instead of the usual action figures, I picked some from Hasbro’s Galactic Heroes series, which are more like caricatures.

When I leafed through the little brochure that was included with my figures, one other figure caught my eye, Emperor Palpatine. Cool, I’m always calling the car Emperor, this is just the right piece of mojo to add to the Miata.

If anyone wants the cute little Shock Trooper let me know.

New Year, Same Old Quality Blogging

Things are looking good for cashing in on the $100 Mill from Wednesday’s Powerball drawing. A couple of weeks ago I paid five dollars and entered the BCS Bowl Pool at work and so far, with three games left I am definitely out of the money. Even if I correctly pick the last three winners I can finish no better than 4th and out of the money.

Increasing My Odds By 50%

Or Good Money After Bad?

Took $20 of my Christmas money and bought another ticket in the Miata raffle at that museum in Washington state. My first two tickets purchased 2 weeks ago were numbered 2155 & 2156. The third ticket arrived in the mail yesterday and is numbered 2369. That means they only had 131 tickets left as of last Wednesday, probably down to just a few left with only 4 days left until they pick a winner. If you want a chance at winning, better hurry and call them at 360-533-5862.

My odds of winning this new Miata, er, MX-5, are 1 in 833 or about the same as hitting a 12-Way Box (whatever that is) on the local Pick 4 Lottery, to put in plain language, pretty slim. But a man’s gotta hope.
