Lost

Saturday was another “date night” with my neighbor. After last month’s surprise dancing incident, we just went out for a meal. There is a place I have been driving by a couple times a week to get to one of my go-to walking paths. There are always a lot of cars parked there, and on summer nights they have outdoor concerts with B-list bands that pack ’em in. There are several restaurants/bars on the property, and we went to the Power Station Pub. We split a Grateful Veg Mezza because the place was busy, and we were warned that our meals would be longer than a 30-minute wait. She ordered the Aztec Salad with chicken, and I had the Dockside Fish Soft Tacos. One blackberry seltzer each, so there was to be zero dancing.

This morning was a bicycle ride ending at Stomping Grounds for a latte and a muffin. Afterwards, I yanked the dead weeds I sprayed with killer a couple days ago. The afternoon was spent watching the last two episodes of season one of LOST. In the last one Locke tells Jack that he is a man of faith and Jack is a man of science. The title of episode one of season two is “Man of Science, Man of Faith.” I’ll start with that one tomorrow.

 

Since Tuesday’s Little Toy Airplane post I have chewed through seven more episodes and only have the final 2 episode of Season 1 left. The only other LOST action figure bonus item that I have is Hurley’s Mega Lotto Jackpot ticket. He used the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42 that frequently recurred in LOST and winning brought him nothing but bad luck.

I have now burned my through 15 of the 24 episodes in season one of LOST. Number 12 was Kate-centric and dealt with a bank robbery she masterminded to get a little toy airplane out of a safe deposit box. And it isn’t explained at all why this is such a big deal. I do remember that there is a future episode that does, could be this season or even the next one. I still have the plastic replica one that came with her action figure which is long gone.

About a year ago, I subscribed to the New York Times Games with a seven-day trial. Santa Fe Sally got me started with Strands and I wanted to try out some of the other games as well. I liked the Strands so much I went back and did every one in the archives, and my count now stands at 785 with a 100% success rate. I’ve been doing the Mini crossword, and now the new Midi crossword as well. I’ve been playing with Connections too, although this one is pretty hard; I’ve done 199 with a 63% success rate.

I also started doing the granddaddy of their games, Wordle. Everyone has their favorite starter word; mine is STAND, and my second word, if nothing in STAND hits, is COVER which has worked out pretty well. I’ve finished 218 with a 95% solve rate; well, last Sunday this happened. –>

 

Since the last post 2 days ago, I have watched 6 7 8 more episodes of LOST. That quote below is from episode 5 (or 6) where some of our castaways move from the beach to a cave where there is shelter and a fresh waterfall.

“If we can’t live together, we’re going to die alone.”

Since the last post 2 days ago, the Red Sox have lost 10-3 and won 17-1. Oh, and they fired manager Alex Cora and five of the staff.

 

I’m not sure how far I’ll make it, but I’ve started to rewatch LOST. Today I watched both of the 2-episode pilots. Two down, 119 to go. The last time I tried this, I don’t think I made it past these first 2 episodes.

We missed the show’s whole first season and only got turned on to it towards the end of the second season, so we had to go back, and watch season one on DVDs and then caught season two when those DVDs came out. Here is my favorite post from those early days of LOST, The Lost Weekend.
