56,000 Vaporized Posts

Friday, September 22, 2017

Over the last couple of months there have been a ton of things that have happened that were definitely blog worthy, but I just haven’t pulled the trigger.

To name a few:
1. Getting some new Toyo Proxies R1R tires.
2. Seeing a bunch of plastic bins stacked on a table at work right under a posted sign that says: Don’t Place Plastic Bins Here.
3. Reloading Windows 10 on the laptop because it kept locking up.
a. Struggling to get it back networked to the desktop.
b. Resetting the router back to defaults.
c. Struggling with the stupid Windows Update Service.
d. Contemplating loading some variation linux on the laptop for the umpteenth time.
4. Running over an armadillo on the way to work one morning.
5. Getting to drive a 2015 Porsche Boxster GTS.
6. An FRS pennant run that almost mirrors the one exactly a decade ago.

Less than a mile from the house this morning on the way to the Valve Store the CTBNL turned over 56,000 miles.

68,000 Excuses Not To Blog

Thursday, June 1, 2017

or I Fell Into An Orphan Black Hole.

I haven’t blogged in about 2 weeks and I’m going to do better in June and post every day. Promise. Or your money back.

I am going to place the blame of that post hole on actually buying (at the exorbitant cost of $1.99) that silly little Orphan Black game. Before I bought it I thought there were only six levels, AKA worlds, to complete because that was how many walk-thrus someone had posted on the internet. But the game itself actually has 10 worlds consisting of either 8 or 9 rooms to navigate successfully to advance on to the next.

And even though the game gives you plenty of decent hints if you ask, I still used the walk-thrus to help me finish up those first 6 levels. Worlds 7 through 10 were all on hints and trial and error and I was really happy to finally wrap up Room 9 of World 10 the other night.

But I was gifted with 4 extra rooms along with some sort of flying demon, that in room two I just can’t seem to get by using the hints and trial and error. I’m going to have to go ‘old school’ and print out the level map and start counting squares or something.

Somewhere during Donna’s errands on Tuesday the Sonata passed the 68,000 mile mark.

Wheel Watcher

Tuesday, February 28, 2017

As usual when I run into one of these blogging avoidance streaks, I come back and make up for lack of content with a new design for the site. I’d like to blame the empty week of posts on how hard I’ve been working on the coding that creates the blog, but that would be a lie, it took about an hour. I downloaded a template I liked, added the header picture and tweaked a couple colors. Done.

And believe it or not, I have been blogging practically every night since my last post. We’ve gotten into a routine here at Casa de Bogardus that goes something like this: wake up, go to work, come home, have dinner while watching Mike & Molly reruns, cussing under our breath during the evening news, watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and then some inane network shows before retiring. Usually somewhere in there I’ll pull out the laptop and surf a few of my favorite haunts then open up the Life of Brian. I hit the New Post button and compose a little something about my day in my head. Then mentally edit a bit to polish it up and then close the window without ever typing anything.

Maybe tomorrow, I’ll actually write something.

Track 17 – Moondance

Because I really have nothing, I’ll just toss out another music video from my Quintessential Burn series. This time it is Van Morrison sharing the vocals with a backup singer from a live 1979 performance in Belfast:

Eclipse

I’ve got/had a bunch of stories I kinda want to write about, but can’t seem to get them from my head to the keyboard, so I’m going to start small:

When I finished my rollerblading route this evening I remembered that there was supposed to be a partial solar eclipse today. It was scheduled to start in our area about 5:30 and continue until sundown when there would be 40% of the sun’s face covered by the shadow of the moon. It was already after 6:00 PM and the sun was already so low in the sky that because of our tree filled neighborhood, I had no clear view. The “photo” above was taken from in my driveway and shot through the big magnolia in the yard across the street.

MLB.TV Takes Its Toll

mlb.tv

Previously on “Life of Brian” it was nothing for me to listen to the FRS game on the internet and blog away, but now that I’ve spent the big bucks to watch the game, it is really hard to minimize the game to write about some inane bit of my day.

Crap, That Long?

Thursday, February 6, 2014

I have been not posting and not missing doing it, so I thought I would see when my domain name expired and if it was close just go ahead and quit. Well, it doesn’t expire until August and it would be a shame to waste that approximately $25 I still have left, so I am going to try and chug along for awhile longer.

Started down, went up, still up.

sturgeon’s law

"Ninety Percent Of Everything Is Crap"
Derived from a quote by science fiction author Theodore Sturgeon, who once said, "Sure, 90% of science fiction is crud. That's because 90% of everything is crud." Oddly, when Sturgeon's Law is cited, the final word is almost invariably changed to 'crap'.
