Cheshire - This town was a station on the Southern Pacific Railroad line platted in 1913 and originally named Hubert. Both "Hubert" and "Cheshire" were names chosen to honor James Hubert Cheshire, a favorite child of the people in the area. (2/6/25)

Drain - The town gets its name from the its founder and politician Charles J. Drain, who donated 60 acres of nearby land to the Oregon and California Railroad in 1871. (8/25/25)

Dufur - 97021
Dufur - What separates this little town from most of the other small towns in northern Oregon is the Balch Hotel. It was built in 1907 by Charles Balch, a local land owner and businessman. The hotel has changed hands a number of times over the years, but it has remained in continuous use to this day. (07/06/22)
