Let’s just go ahead and admit it: I have had a desire to own a VW Golf GTI since their beginning in the 80s. But in the late 70s I was sucked into the Honda family, and I was driving a 2-door Civic hatchback, a Golf competitor, without the GTI-ness. The GTI was out there, but that desire was pushed way, way back when I bought my first Miata. Now I own both, a Miata and a GTI.
