2004 Mazda Miata 2006 Jeep Wrangler 2000 BMW M5
No color theme this week, just the 3-car garage that I’d buy if I was spending my money.

Here is what last week’s cars sold for, or bid to (if the reserve was not met):
Sport: 1985 Ferrari 308 GTS Bid to $62,722 on 4/25/24
Off-Road: 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser Sold for $43,500 on 4/25/24
Touring: 1987 Nissan Van Sold for $15,750 on 4/24/24

Another color themed entry, that is if you can call white a color and I don’t think you can. White, grey and black are achromatic, meaning without hue, AKA color.

Here is what last week’s cars sold for, or bid to (if the reserve was not met):
Sport: 2006 Factory Five Racing Mk3 Roadster Sold for $37,500 on 4/21/24
Off-Road: 1973 Toyota Land Cruiser Sold for $24,000 on 4/20/24
Touring: 1953 Hudson Super Jet Bid to $7,500 on 4/19/24

Illegal Parking?

Saturday, April 20, 2024

Today’s errand was twofold, first I needed to drop off a couple of Amazon returns at Kohl’s and I had to pick up a few items at Fred Meyer. Fortunately they are in the same shopping center and only about 100-150 yards apart. As I got to front of Kohl’s a car was just leaving a parking spot only 3 deep in the lane, so I pulled right in. But, there was sign there that said “Reserved For Kohl’s Online Order Pick-Up Only.” I wasn’t going to be long and how are they going to know I’m not picking something up. After a short wait in line at the Amazon Drop-Off Kiosk I left the store and I thought about leaving the car there, but moved it over nearer to Fred Meyer.

Not because I was worried that I was going get a ticket or anything, but part of the grocery shopping included a couple of 12 packs of Sugar Free Ginger Ale and I’d have to schlep them and the other few items all the way back across the parking lot. My best laid plans fell thru almost immediately when Freddy didn’t have any of the Ginger Ale, plenty of regular, but no sugar-free. Everything else fit neatly in a grocery bag, so I could have easily left the Mini by Kohl’s. As I am about to get to the car Donna texted me from home that the fleece joggers I had ordered online from Kohl’s was ready.

Cool. Instead of driving over I opted to walk there and back, but now I get a pass for parking in that Kohl’s Online Order spot even though the timing was not exact. Walking through Kohl’s on my to their order pick up area I opened the email about my order and was greeted by the full email title, “Your Order Is Ready To Ship. Sigh. I turned around and headed back to the Mini in front of Fred Meyers.

I guess it was illegal parking after all.

In a tradition like no other, instead of being outside enjoying the perfectly nice spring days last weekend, we were ensconced on the couch staring at the TV watching the one golf tournament a year we care about, quite possibly just because we did get to go to a few practice rounds back in the 90’s.

Here is what last week’s cars sold for, or bid to (if the reserve was not met):

Coincidence?

Saturday, April 13, 2024

We have been in Fairview for 6 months now and it kind of feels like we’ve been here longer, in a good way. Our most traveled route is a right out of the community, a half a mile east on Sandy Blvd to a traffic light, then right again taking us underneath of I-84. This takes us south into Fairview, Wood Village and Gresham for all our shopping and dining needs.

Ever since we’ve traveled that way there has been a homeless person living under I-84. We’ve never seen the individual, but their shopping cart, sleeping bag/blankets and a couple of handmade sign with bible verses on them have been there.

A couple of weeks ago when we passed under the Interstate all that stuff was gone. I figured the local authorities had cleared the person out or maybe he/she had just moved on. The very next day while reading the Portland newspaper, the Oregonian, I saw an article that said a body was found in an open space near the intersection of Halsey St and Fairview Ave, and foul play was suspected. Hey I recognize the corner, Fairview Ave/NE 223rd Ave is where we pass under I-84 and Halsey is the next light, maybe a 1/4 mile up the street.

Was this our missing homeless person?

Missing Pieces

Tuesday, April 9, 2024

We bought this puzzle brand new, so we were the first to open the plastic bag. When we finished the puzzle there was a single missing piece (the hot pink in the upper left under the large sunflowers.)

So we combed the area and couldn’t find it. Making things slightly more difficult was we have the main bedroom carpet temporarily under the puzzle table while they work on the bathroom and it is pretty much the color of the typical cardboard color on the back of puzzle pieces. I went and got a flashlight so I could crawl around on my belly like a reptile shining the light at ground level. I didn’t find it.

What I did find were two other puzzle pieces that didn’t match the current puzzle. They were the two single missing pieces from the last two puzzles we did!?!

Hopefully we’ll accidentally stumble on the current missing piece when we drop a puzzle piece while working on the next puzzle we do.

sturgeon’s law

"Ninety Percent Of Everything Is Crap"
Derived from a quote by science fiction author Theodore Sturgeon, who once said, "Sure, 90% of science fiction is crud. That's because 90% of everything is crud." Oddly, when Sturgeon's Law is cited, the final word is almost invariably changed to 'crap'.
