This weekend was supposed to be the MMC’s Deals Gap Weekend that Donna & I head up, but for the last week and a half the predicted weather for today and tomorrow has been awful, so earlier this week we cancelled the trip. This allowed everyone to cancel their reservation at the Microtel in Robbinsville without penalty.
All except us. I had forgotten, to get a cheaper rate, I booked our room as pay ahead and non-refundable. We were all prepared to chalk it up as a loss, but on Thursday decided, “What the heck. “How bad can it be?” The answer…so far, so good. We got up to Robbinsville with more than half the time spent with the top down.
Tomorrow it is still supposed to be a nasty rainy day up here and I hope it is so bad that we have to spend the day in the hotel room, otherwise I’m going to feel bad about calling off the trip.
We took a picture of the Robbinsville sign for the R City in last year’s Motoring Challenge too, but ended up using Rome, MS instead, so we stopped on the way into town today and took another to use this year.
