How Big A Loser Am I?

This morning while lounging in bed awaiting sufficient motivation to get up and get on with Sunday I learned just how much of a loser I am. Watched a rerun of Sportsnight on Comedy Central (no, not the indicator.) When it was over I switched over to the Weather Channel to see if it was going to warm enough to wash the car today (this is not it either, but we are getting warmer.) The first 30 seconds or so of the anchors spiel was accompanied by the blocky Weekend Now logo instead of their smiling faces. With just their voices going I thought to myself, “Oh, that’s Bill Keneely and Kelly Cass.” And sure enough, when they showed the faces, that’s who they were. Pretty sad, huh?

10th Anniversary Dinner

Ironed out the details on the Miata caricature. I know you are probably asking what the difference is, well if you look at the first one closely you would see that the steering wheel was on the wrong side of the car (the fellow who does them is in England.) Plus I didn’t want to see the big CarArtz.com logo in the white space. Dave has agreed to make it a lot smaller and hide it in the shadow of the car.

Tonite was the “gala” 10th Anniversary Dinner for the Master’s Miata Club. Good time. We had 25 people enjoy good food and good company. We had 2 of the founding 12 in attendance. One is a somewhat active member still and the other has pretty much been a ghost, she hasn’t been to an event since I’ve been active with the Club (November 1995.)

I know I was probably a little naive to think that they printed up those World champ T-shirts in the final 2 minutes of the game, but come on HSN. Today, if you wanted, you could purchase hats, shirts, pennants, etc. that proclaim the Bucs or Raiders as Super Bowl Winners. The game wasn’t for another 24 hours. I checked and if your chosen team loses, they will not ship the items and not charge your credit card. Nice of them…

Stadium Seating

For our half day off Friday we went over to Augusta to see a movie. We have devised a plan in which every other Friday afternoon off (which means once a month) we will see a movie at a matinee. The drive to Augusta is that is where the closest stadium seating theater is, plus when the weather is warm it will be a good excuse to go for a drive. Today I let Donna pick, so we ended up seeing “Two Weeks Notice.” Donna is a sucker for Sandra Bullock or Julia Roberts movies, so we go, and I get major brownie points for it (and believe me, I usually need ’em.) Next movie will be my pick.

How would you use a global-Undo?

My first BlogFodder and it sounds like a question from some sort of physc test. Would you go back to the Dallas Book Repository and tap Lee Harvey on the shoulder? Would you prevent Hilter’s birth if you could? Would you go back and talk Judas out of ratting out Jesus? Would you go back and ask Betty Sue to the prom instead of chickening out? How pathetic are you? But I guess it is a matter of degrees isn’t it? I mean, I do hit the backspace key to go back a letter or two to correct a spelling….so why not something else, just a little more monumental?

Drop Dead Gorgeous

It was listed in my Netflix spreadsheet as my having rented it back in May 2000, but could not for the life of me remember seeing it. The write-up sounded interesting so I borrowed this movie from a co-worker and we watched it again tonight. 5 minutes in to it I remembered the movie and remembered why I didn’t remember seeing it, we only watched about 5 minutes of it back then. Right about the point where Kirstie Alley effects a Minnesotian accent. This time we stuck it out and frankly we were right the first time. Great cast, but totaly wasted here. I have now seen most of these so called mockumentaries and if you have seen Spinal Tap, stop there, the rest pale in comparison.

The Death of Ugly Singers

Used to be that what you looked like didn’t much matter if you were a musician, if your music was beautiful, that was all it took. Look at Mick Jagger (then or now) or Merle Haggard. The 4 mopheads from Liverpool were in need of serious dental work. But now with MTV, etc. you have to look good to make it now a days.

The latest Rolling Stone magazine came in the mail and there on the cover is a picture of Shania Twain in a cheap trash looking outfit set on stun. The verbiage reads, “Shania Twain. She knows what you like…” Boy howdy. We want good looking women, scantily clad, singing just to us. I’m as susceptible to this as the next man. I’ll never forget the first time I saw her (I think first) video where she is wearing that red dress singing about boots or something, I watched a lot of CMT waiting to see that again, and I don’t really like country music.

I’m as guilty as the next for bringing on the death of ugly singers. And I’d like to apologize.
