Noumitsu Mizugiwa

Friday, January 26, 2007

When Donna and I went for our 2 mile walk on the beach this afternoon we must have passed about 20 people! Man, that is one noumitsu mizugiwa! (which I hope means crowded beach in Japanese) 😉

Lunch was at Donna’s favorite Japanese place, Hinoki of Kurama. Katsudon and a Coke for him and a Bento Box with Sprite for her.

Meal Cost: $25.42
Tip: $3.58
Spent Today: $29.00

53,0000 Nuetrons

Thursday, January 25, 2007

Who knew that the Godfather of Soul was into Geocaching? Not me, but according to his “widow” Tomi Rae Hynie*, he buried large amounts of cash in the backyard of his Beech Island, SC home. If you feel like you want to take a chance that you’ll get by the gates, the security and quite possibly the guard dogs here are coordinates of the stash/cache. +33? 25′ 30.90″, -81? 49′ 58.08″ (If you enter those coordinates into Google Earth you can get a nice view of the next Graceland.)

We are in Hilton Head for the next couple of days for some off-season beach fun. On the way down tonight, the Emperor passed through the 53,000 mile mark some where on Road #1 on the US Government’s Top Secret Bomb Plant less than 20 miles from James Brown’s house.

* I could have sworn I heard this a couple times on CNN Headline News last night, but searching for any reference of this “story” on the CNN web site today returned no hits.

Tip: None

It’s All In How You Ask

Wednesday, January 24, 2007

Got nothing to say tonight, so in lieu of actual content here is an oldie, but goodie (relatively speaking), that Mark forwarded to me today.

George Phillips of Meridian, Mississippi was going up to bed when his wife told him that he’d left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window.

George opened the back door to go turn off the light but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things.

He phoned the police, who asked “Is someone in your house?” and he said “no”. Then they said that all patrols were busy, and that he should simply lock his door and an officer would be along when available.

George said, “Okay,” hung up, counted to 30, and phoned the police again.

“Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people in my shed. Well, you don’t have to worry about them now cause I’ve just shot them all.” Then he hung up.

Within five minutes three police cars, an Armed Response unit, and an ambulance showed up at the Phillips ‘ residence and caught the burglars red-handed.

One of the Policemen said to George: “I thought you said that you’d shot them!”

George said, “I thought you said there was nobody available!”

Started up, still up.

Noow What?

Tuesday, January 23, 2007

Yesterday I whined aboout the laptoop drooping the letter ‘a’ if the key wasn’t hit in just the right way. Toonight my nifty lighted keybooard seems too be dooing doouble ‘oo’s.

OK, maybe I exaggerated that a bit to much, but earlier when I was composing an email it must have happened ten times. I know there is a setting in windows to regulate the keyboard pressure, but it was only happening for the letter ‘o’. And now, later, I can’t seem to get it to do it unless I force it, like above.

I’d Like To Announce…

Monday, January 22, 2007

…my intention to form an exploratory committee to judge whether or not I should think about the possibility of seeking the Party’s nomination for the office of the President of the United States.

If elected, my first order of business will be to pull our troops out of Iraq. We are going to need them to invade Iran.

Why is the SciFi Channel showing wrestling?

How does Carl Yastrzemski feel about a birth control pill being named after him?

The ‘ ‘ key on the lptop is strting to ct up. You hve to hit it in just the right spot to mke it work.

Lazy Sunday

Sunday, January 21, 2007

If not for my wife practically dragging me out of the house for the mile long walk around our neighborhood, my only foray outside would have been to the end of the driveway to pickup the Sunday paper. I spent most of the day on one end of the couch listening to RP and reading Prime Witness by Steve Martini. I have read several of his books and enjoy the whole lawyer – murder trial – twist in the end books he writes.

While poking around the authors web site I discovered a couple of his books I hadn’t read that I’ll keep my eye out for when poking around the used book stores. One in particular, his first published, called The Simeon Chamber in which the protagonist is someone by the name of Samuel J. Bogardus will be especially sought after.

Started down, still down.

sturgeon’s law

"Ninety Percent Of Everything Is Crap"
Derived from a quote by science fiction author Theodore Sturgeon, who once said, "Sure, 90% of science fiction is crud. That's because 90% of everything is crud." Oddly, when Sturgeon's Law is cited, the final word is almost invariably changed to 'crap'.
