Sturgeon’s Law

Ninety percent of everything is crap.

Derived from a quote by science fiction author Theodore Sturgeon, who once said, “Sure, 90% of science fiction is crud. That’s because 90% of everything is crud.” Oddly, when Sturgeon’s Law is cited, the final word is almost invariably changed to ‘crap’.

I think all states should adopt a $5000.00 littering fine for INTENDED littering. If it goes to court, a lawyer would be smart to have and it would likely still cost $5000.00 to win the case. Maybe then, people would take littering seriously. Could be a better cash cow than speeding violations.

  • INTENDED” — like tossing your cigarette butt out the window because you don’t want to dirty up the ashtray.

EXACTLY. A thrown cigarette could get caught in the turbulence and end up in your convertible. Other things thrown out the window are also an expensive and dangerous problem. Who has not swerved to miss something on the highway?
